The Accredited Investment Fiduciary® (AIF®)

The Accredited Investment Fiduciary® (AIF®) credential signifies that an advisor has met specific criteria to act as an investment fiduciary. This designation ensures that the advisor has a deep understanding of fiduciary responsibilities and is committed to acting in the best interests of clients. The AIF® is issued by the Center for Fiduciary Studies and accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), placing it among a select group of accredited designations.

Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA)

Holding a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation signifies an advisor's mastery in investment management. Awarded by the CFA Institute, this globally recognized credential covers a broad range of financial disciplines, including accounting, economics, and ethics, and serves as a testament to an advisor's competence and integrity.

Certified Private Wealth Advisor® (CPWA®)

The Certified Private Wealth Advisor® (CPWA®) is a high-level certification for professionals advising high-net-worth clients is issued by Investments & Wealth Institute. This certification focuses on advanced financial planning and wealth management techniques for clients with a net worth of $5 million or more.

Certified Financial Planner® (CFP®)

As a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™, one undergoes rigorous training and adheres to high ethical standards to offer comprehensive financial planning services issued by the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc. This designation is a hallmark of quality, that financial advisors are well-equipped to navigate the complexities of the financial landscape on behalf of their clients.

Certified Investment Management Analyst® (CIMA®)

The Certified Investment Management Analyst® (CIMA®) is a globally recognized certification tailored for professionals in investment consulting, financial advising, and wealth management issued by Investments & Wealth Institute. This program focuses on advanced portfolio construction techniques and is considered the pinnacle of technical training in the field.

Certified Exit Planning Advisor (CEPA)

The Certified Exit Planning Advisor (CEPA) issued by the Exit Planning Institute equips professionals with the expertise to guide business owners through the intricate process of exiting their business. CEPAs are trained to consider both business and personal financial goals, offering a holistic strategy for business transition. They address various factors such as risk tolerance, retirement timelines, and industry-specific issues, aiming to optimize the timing and financial aspects of a business sale.

Tom Briggs, AIF®

Wealth Manager

Tom is an Accredited Investment Fiduciary® with knowledge in retirement plan consulting and helping clients assess their goals and risk tolerances in order to develop appropriate asset allocation strategies. Tom helps high-net-worth individuals and institutional clients navigate the turbulent ups and downs of the financial market. Recently, Tom has been honored as a Forbes | SHOOK Best-In-State Wealth Advisor for 2023.

Tom appreciates the importance of keeping up with the ever-changing financial landscape. He believes that there’s no crystal ball in the financial world, but there are ways to take a deeper view than what appears on the surface. He works hard to stay current by accumulating and assimilating information to keep his clients aware of new developments and expanded opportunities.

At Plaza, Tom is free to make independent choices that are in his clients’ best interest. He loves having the independence to go in whatever direction his clients and his team deem appropriate. He appreciates the ability to offer his clients a wealth of choices. He believes that understanding his clients’ situation is a key element of working successfully with them. He takes pride in providing a level of service that shows his personal commitment.

When not in the office, Tom enjoys saltwater and fly fishing and has past experience serving as a board member for Boy Hope/Girls Hope and the Des Peres Board of Adjustment, Planning and Zoning Committee.

Andrew Briggs, CFA, CPWA®

Director of Portfolio Management

Andrew graduated from the University of Missouri – Columbia with a degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Finance. Andrew has also completed the necessary education to become a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and Certified Private Wealth Advisor (CPWA®). These designations exhibit Andrew’s dedication to continuing education and acting with a high standard of ethics for his clients.

Andrew started his career as an intern at Plaza Advisory Group and was hired full-time because of his knowledge, curiosity, work ethic, and passion for helping his clients. One of the most important lessons Andrew obtained from his internship was the importance to develop trust and transparency with each client. Andrew realizes how unique each client financial plan is. Despite having a deep knowledge in Portfolio Management, he understands that in order to complete a holistic plan it requires intertwining every aspect of their client’s goals. A common phrase you will often hear Andrew express to clients is, “Your benchmark is your Financial Plan and nothing else.” After thorough discussions involving all aspects of a client’s plan, Andrew works to develop a sound and risk-conscience portfolio that their clients are comfortable with. Continuing education is not only important to Andrew personally, but he believes in continually educating their clients so that they are able to stick with their financial plan.

Andrew and his wife Kelly, a Nurse Practitioner, were both born and raised in St. Louis. They have two young daughters Nora and Caroline and a Labrador retriever which keep them busy when they are both not working. When not in the office, Andrew enjoys spending time with both family and friends. His hobbies include waterfowl hunting, golfing, squash, and fishing if he is fortunate enough to get to the ocean.

Corey Briggs, CFP®, CIMA®, CEPA

Director of Wealth Planning

Corey graduated from the University of Missouri – Columbia with a dual major in Finance & Banking / Real Estate. Corey has successfully completed the curriculum to become a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ practitioner (CFP®) and the Certified Investment Management Analyst® certification (CIMA®), which means he has dedicated his career to continuing education and acting with a high standard of ethics for each client.

Before joining Plaza, Corey worked at 2 publicly traded companies in downtown Chicago. At the most recent firm, he provided 1-1 consulting to hundreds of independent advisor offices throughout the Midwest to help them build, and run, a more efficient business models. With this knowledge and experience, Corey understands the importance of client communication, timeliness, and educating clients on their retirement and planning decisions. Corey builds trust with clients by providing a clear path for their future, being transparent throughout the process, and being diligent in fulfilling his role as a fee-only fiduciary.

Corey understands that each client’s financial picture is unique. His passion is helping to make his client’s needs, and future wants, attainable through estate, retirement, and investment planning. Throughout the planning process, Corey strongly advocates educating and communicating with his clients to make well informed decisions together.

When building customized plans, Corey’s goal is to deconstruct client’s difficult decisions, provide multiple scenarios that best benefit the client, and collaborate with his clients to determine the best course of action.  During this process, he strongly encourages involving the entire family to develop the most efficient wealth transfer for future generations.

Corey is a native St. Louisan, and enjoys spending time with his wife, Kayla, and their dog, Luna. When they are not found enjoying the local delicacies, walking Luna, or hanging with friends and family, they are usually traveling to different states or countries. Corey is an avid golfer, Blues fan, fly fisherman, and loves anything outdoors.

Michelle Niethe

Senior Client Administrative Manager

Michelle has 20 years of experience in financial industry operations, most of it focusing on the operational aspect of the business. Michelle joined Plaza to assist The Briggs Group with their growing administrative needs. While she is skilled at accomplishing the behind-the-scenes operational tasks, what Michelle truly looks forward to is spending more time interacting with clients. Getting to know clients better helps her deliver a tailored, customized service each family desires. Michelle is studying for the Series 7 securities license.

Michelle has lived in St Louis all of her life, currently residing in South St. Louis. She is very active in her daughter’s school, service on their gala auction committee as well as serving as a parent ambassador for the school and frequently volunteering at the school. Away from the office, Michelle enjoys spending time with her daughter and family. She also loves watching sports (go Cardinals & Blues!) and working in the yard.

Dan Noonan

Wealth Management Associate

Dan has been an analyst with Plaza Advisory Group since 1994. He has a BS in Business Administration from the University of Missouri along with securities registrations Series 7, and Series 63. In addition to maintaining a client reporting system, Dan provides analysis of executive compensation, focusing on the issues inherent in the transition to retirement. Dan also performs portfolio modeling and asset allocation analysis.

Dan enjoys being able to work with very talented people in a comfortable and professional environment and assisting clients through the aggregation of data into meaningful information and reports. With his help, clients and advisors are able to make sense of their investments and pursue their financial goals.

Outside of the office, Dan enjoys hockey, hiking, and anything outdoors. He is also a member of several municipal boards including the Park Board, the Civilian Review Board, and the Planning and Zoning Board.
